Pat Lovell Holiday Classic

The Tournament will be December 27-28, 2023 at Aptos High School

  Pat Lovell was a three-year varsity starter in football and wrestling and received numerous post season honors including three-time Pacific Coast Heavyweight Wrestling Champion.

  After leaving Cal Poly, Pat was the 1961 National AAU Heavyweight Greco-Roman Champion. From 1961-1964 he was the National AAU place winner in the same division. From 1961 to 1962 Pat was on the USA World Team and in 1964 he was on the Olympic team. He was also an eight-time AAU All-American winner. In 1995 he was the National Scholastic Federation Official of the year, the USA Wrestling "Man of the Year" and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. In 2000, he was inducted into the California Wrestling Hall of Fame. Pat has been the President of the USA Wrestling Officials Association. He has been officiating high school football for over 35 years and wrestling matches for over 44 years.

  From 1976 to 2000 he was a coach of football, wrestling and softball at Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz, California. He resides in Santa Cruz with his wife Joy. He has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
